It's finally happening.  The uprising Nierra and I wanted is here.  I just wish my sister was here to see it.  Regardless, I'll fight in her memory, and in the memory of Tegan and Orlus Diral.

Like all Drow of age, I know to fight, but I am no general.  While my sister became a scout, I followed in our parents' footsteps and became a merchant.  This has proven to have its advantages, my trade contracts have resulted in our cause being very well funded.  Despite my lack of military tactics, people look to me for answers now.

Drow law forbids interfering in a revolt in a city other than your own, but Lady Carlia of Auron and Lord Silus Arrayn of Darkwatch have agreed to take in our wounded, children, and those who refuse to take a side.  I won't hold that against them.  As part of Drow Democracy, they have a right to not fight for any cause, just a we have a right to fight for ours.

Speaking of interference, one of my advisors told me of a party of Surface Humans visiting Darkwatch, and suggested we attempt to make a deal for human-made firearms, arguing that since they were not Drow, the non-interference law did not apply to them.  I pointed out that the Under Humans and Dwarves of Darkwatch are not Drow either, but it does apply to them, to which she responded that it was because they were Principality citizens, Drow or not.  I finally said that while their guns were superior weapons to our own crossbows, it would be difficult to supply the ammunition for the weapons.  We'll have to manage on our own.

I hold no love the reigning Princess of Kyrol, that much is obvious, but that doesn't meant I don't love this city.  For everything that's wrong with it, Kyrol is my home.  It's sad that I must bring it to ruin before I can make it better than it ever was.

There are many kinds of hate, especially for a people that revels in it.  There's hatred of a common nuisance, there's an intimate hatred almost indistinguishable from love, and then there's the kind of hatred where you just want someone dead.  My feelings towards Rhianne Baelos started out as the first, skipped the second, and went straight to the third.  She may be old and feeble, but I have no qualms about slitting her throat for the good of Kyrol.

While not an expert on mental illness, I do understand that it played a large part in what Rhianne did.  It's not enough to make me spare her life, but if I am victorious, I will do everything in my power to prevent others like her from suffering as she did.

-Nero Diral, leader of the Kyrol Rebellion
A bit of lore from a D&D campaign run by arandombard, and its sequel campaign run by me.

Note: Under-Humans and Surface-Humans are technically the same species, however, Under-Humans have adapted over several generations to living in a subterranean environment.  They are mainly found in the Drow city of Darkwatch.
